UCFS Mentoring Program

Find someone to provide guidance or bounce an idea off through mentorship!

Apply for the Mentorship Program

The UCFS Mentoring Program is dedicated to advancing leadership and professional growth within the urban and community forestry sector. By connecting UCFS members through structured Mentor-Mentee partnerships, this year-long program fosters mutual leadership development and knowledge sharing among professionals who are passionate about advancing urban forestry and their own professional development.

The primary objective of the UCFS Mentoring Program is to support participants in achieving both short-term and long-term career goals. Rather than focusing solely on immediate job tasks, the program encourages a broader approach, guiding Mentees to explore career aspirations beyond their current roles. The program provides a foundation for Mentors to guide Mentees on career-oriented goals and strategies and may offer insights on job-related challenges and provide tips for problem-solving as needed.

Throughout the program, Mentors and Mentees participate in monthly one-on-one meetings. These sessions serve as a platform for Mentees to gain practical skills, increase their confidence, and expand their knowledge in urban and community forestry. Mentors, in turn, benefit from these interactions by enhancing their leadership and communication skills while gaining fresh perspectives on industry trends and challenges from their Mentees.

By the end of the program, both Mentors and Mentees will have strengthened their professional networks, deepened their industry knowledge, and developed skills that contribute to their long-term career success in urban and community forestry.
