We need your help to keep the Municipal Forestry Institute (MFI) and Arborist Exchange programs accessible to all.
Each year, we provide scholarships and funding support to urban foresters to attend MFI and to participant in the Arborist Exchange program. These scholarships are critical to many with financial restraints and also aim to increase representation of people from all walks of life within our professional community.
In past years, funds have been made available through a combination of federal grants and our own Urban Forest Foundation (UFF). However, due to current federal funding uncertainty, these scholarships and support dollars are at risk, and we need your help today.

The Urban Forest Foundation is a 501(c)3 established by visionary leaders of UCFS (formerly SMA) in 2006. The Foundation is dedicated to creating and supporting projects and programs that advance the dissemination and implementation of research developed in the fields of arboriculture and urban forestry to benefit people, trees, and the urban environment.
All of the Urban Forest Foundation’s activities serve two fundamental purposes, (1) to promote the education of people who practice municipal arboriculture and manage the urban and community forest, and (2) to promote public understanding of the value of urban trees. Both purposes lessen the burden of the government by improving management of urban forest resources, enabling sharing of expertise, and facilitating public and community involvement in the oversight of valuable community assets.
